How Faith Overcomes

1 John 5:4 - 5
“Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world – our faith. Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

“Faith enables us to have a victory over the world and overcome it directly by the simple resting of our faith upon the Lord Jesus Christ. I am increasingly convinced that this is the greatest lesson that as Christian people we can ever learn in this world. ‘This is the victory that overcomes the world – our faith.’ It is our faith in Him, our belief in Him, that He is the Son of God.

I fly to Christ as utterly helpless, but I also work faith out. I reason out the implication of believing that Jesus is the Son of God. And why did the Son of God take upon Himself the likeness of humanity? It was because of the power of sin. The Son of God came because He was the only way in which we could be delivered from the world.”
