The Wholeness of the Christian Life

1 John 5:2 - 3
“By this we know that we love the children of God – when we love God and keep His commandments. This is the love of God – that we keep His commandments. His commandments are not grievous.”

“Our analysis of this Epistle is to tell Christian people that even in a world like this, a fullness of joy is possible. There is a joy that, as Peter says, is ‘unspeakable and full of glory’ (1 Peter 1:8). And John says that this is possible because we can, in this world and even as we are, have fellowship with God. It is fellowship with God that leads to joy. If we want to enjoy that fellowship with God, we must keep His commandments, love the brethren, and must always be right in our doctrine – especially the doctrine concerning the absolute centrality and necessity of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
