H Ike - Wednesday Morning
Wednesday Morning: Hurricane Ike seems a little farther north than I thought it would be. The northward movement is bringing stormy conditions to much of Florida, though concentrated in the southern part of the state. Even here it looks like we could get a little wind and rain from the hurricane. Its center of circulation has moved into the Gulf. It will probably strengthen significantly now that it’s over open water. The forecast track continues to push it west-northwest towards Texas. Landfall is expected anywhere along that state’s coastline. I’ll give it another day or two – see if any further updates are warranted. Provided it continues westerly and does not swing upwards anytime within the next 24 – 36 hours, we’re probably in the clear.
