Prayer with Confidence

1 John 5:14-15
“And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. And if we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.”

“So often we know not what we should pray for as we ought. So what happens? ‘The Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings that cannot be uttered. We are groaning and sighing in the presence of God. What is a sigh? It is something created in you by the Spirit. The Spirit knows the mind of God. He always prompts and urges according to the will of God. The promise is that if we ask anything according to the will of God, He hears us. We know if He hears us, we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

It works like this you see: when you believe your prayer comes to your heart from the Spirit of God, you may be sure that an answer to your prayer will also be given from God. If I am surrendered to God and my one desire is to please Him, as I pray I feel and know that this petition has come to me from God. I pray with confidence. I pray with assurance.

There are times when I am led to pray. I am prompted and urged to pray. As I pray I know I have my petition. I have already received my answer. The actual answer may not come for weeks, or even years, yet I know I have received it.”
