1 John 3:24
“And he that keeps His commandments dwells in Him, and He in him. Hereby we know that He abides in us by the Spirit which He has given us.”
“An additional proof of our sonship is the reception of the Holy Spirit. We are saved not by believing a truth; we are saved because of what God has done for us. At Pentecost we have the last great step in a series of acts or enactments that made our salvation possible. The gift of the Holy Spirit to the church is the absolute proof of the sufficiency of the work of Christ and of its acceptance with God.
Christians are people who are altogether different from those who are not Christians. They are not just a little bit better, or people who do certain things. No, the themselves are different. They are spiritual. Paul says, ‘we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is of God, that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God’ (I Cor 2:12). How do we know that the Holy Spirit has come to us? Those who have received the Spirit are aware of a power dealing with them and working in them. Those who receive the Spirit are spiritually interested in Truth.”
