1 John 1:3
“And indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
In desiring fellowship with God, mysticism says “if you want to know God just as you are, you have to start getting into communion with Him and He will speak to you and give you blessings. The evangelical means of fellowship with God starts with Christ’s work. There is no true knowledge of God without Christ. ‘No man comes unto the Father but by Me,’ says our Lord (John 14:6). I must come by Christ and I must come via the cross. Christ’s teaching cannot bring me to God because there is the guilt of my sin. It is Christ’s work for me before it is Christ’s work in me. It is what He has done objectively there in that transaction before He can do anything upon my soul.”
