H Ike - Monday Morning
Monday Morning: The nice thing about the weekend (amongst all its other niceties) is that our tropical storms will progress for two days without much concern. During the week, I can check on them frequently. And like a watched pot never boils, a watched hurricane doesn’t move. But if I don’t keep up with the storm throughout the weekend, I check again on Monday morning and say “Oh! Look where it is now! And there’s the new tracking models!”
Hanna is history. Ike is our interest now. It is a C2 centered right over the eastern half of Cuba. That’s a little further south than what was expected this weekend. It looks as though it is going to travel the whole length of that country. The generalized cone shows it striking the eastern most part of the Texas coast. That’s a little further west than was expected this weekend. A couple models tracked it with a significant northward curve up toward the Florida panhandle. Now, they’re all in concurrence for it to hit Texas or Louisiana. There will be a few more updates to come as it continues on it’s way south of the state.
